In 2008 LGA Studios designed a home for Charlie Shea homes in the Pine Creek neighborhood that has now been awarded a Gold in the Green Building Certification program under NAHB! This home received the first Green Building certification in El Paso county and the second Green Building certification in the state - which is the first gold certification in the state.
The house in Pine Creek is just over 3,000 SF with a mostly finished basement of similar size. It was planned as a "Green" building from its conception. In particular, energy efficiency, water reduction technology and resource conservation were emphasized in the technology and construction methods used.
CR Shea homes has been pursuing the knowledge and practice of environmentally-friendly building for some time and are long-time builders in Colorado Springs. Charlie Shea says about the Green Building program: “once you read and understand what the program is about and how it benefits not only the homeowner but our overall environment, it will change your attitude on the importance of green building.”
